And now for something completely different from Yorkville…
Moving to The Kingsway… or vice versa. From one extraordinary neighbourhood to another.
The Kingsway is a beautiful residential neighbourhood located on the border of Etobicoke and Toronto, on the west bank of the Humber River. The area is one of the more affluent places in Toronto, with some of the largest and most beautifully designed homes in the city. The residential area is lined with tall trees creating a majestic atmosphere. The neighbourhood is a perfect destination for families looking to put down long-term roots, with excellent and highly regarded schools, parks and family-oriented facilities.
Living in the Kingsway is like living in a forest, in the middle of a great city!
You can relax and be surrounded by public parks, tennis courts, swimming pools, skating rinks, all within walking distance.
It’s quiet, yet minutes away from the lovely shops, cafes and restaurants of Bloor Street West; and it’s only 15 minutes by car to downtown, via the Gardiner Expressway, or by subway from Royal York or Old Mill Subway stations.
The History of the Kingsway
Development of the Kingsway started in earnest in the late 19th century when local businessman Robert Home Smith purchased the Old King’s Mill and began planning his ideal residential community. Home Smith was infatuated with all things pertaining to England. For his newly acquired land, Home Smith wanted to build a neighbourhood following English Garden City principles, which embraced holistic planning and looked to enhance the natural environment.
Home Smith insisted on using locally sourced materials to build the houses in the area and made it mandatory that every homeowner had to consult with an approved architect before breaking ground on a new house. There was also special care taken that no trees were cut down during the construction process as to maintain the countryside aesthetic that Home Smith was aiming for.
Today this tradition is carried on by builders and architects with remarkable attention to detail and history combined with the best of modern conveniences.

Making the move to The Kingsway or downsizing to Yorkville
Houses in The Kingsway are some of the most expensive in the city, but if you can afford it, there are few neighbourhoods in Toronto that can rival The Kingsway’s natural beauty and community values, making it an ideal landing spot for families.
If you are an older homeowner in The Kingsway and your children already moved out, you might be thinking about your next steps and possibly downsizing to something more suitable to your lifestyle. Yorkville would be an excellent choice.
If you want to take advantage of on an extremely lively housing market, at Hazelton Real Estate, we have all the tools to help make the transition a smooth and profitable one.
Even beautiful houses like the ones in The Kingsway can become cluttered and disorganized over time and if you want to have a successful sale, home staging is real tangible benefit to the sales process. Whether you are staging your home for a sale, moving your family into a new home, or just need to declutter your space, self storage can be a great solution.
Right now, I am recommending Storwell Self Storage to my clients as they are offering an exclusive offer of 4 weeks of free self storage, to my clients. Storwell has locations in Scarborough, Mississauga, and one facility in Etobicoke just a short drive south of The Kingsway, on Evans Avenue, near Kipling and the Gardiner Expressway. If you need self storage for home staging or your next move, you can call or visit a facility, in person to demo a unit.

Yorkville: An Oasis in the middle of the City
I’ve spent most of my life in Yorkville and I continue to be amazed by the number of calm and idyllic spots in the neighbourhood. Each of them surrounded by the action and buzz of cafes, restaurants, art galleries, and high fashion boutiques.
Of course, the neighbourhood has been quieter lately, but like spring flowers is ready to burst into full bloom soon.
In terms of a comfortable place to live Yorkville has everything you can think of within walking distance. It makes for an elegant, graceful style of living full of surprising delights and interesting people. There is also a comfortable balance.
